Did Europe have a 1988 GSX1100es?

Just wondering if they were still selling a GSX1100es in Europe, in 1988, as a new bike, not a leftover? In the picture, it looks very similar to our 1983 GS1100es here in America. If so, would it be 1074cc like in 1983, or 1135cc like our 1984 GS1150?
The post I saw with this picture lists it as a 1988.

I think he's mistaken about the year. By 1988, most everything was liquid cooled. Aside from the paint scheme, it looks identical to an American 1983 GS1100ES.

Yes it is an 83, also in the super rare black and red. I've only ever seen one that colour and that was in the local dealer showroom. There could be some confusion in the fact that what we called the 1150 here was still labeled 1100 in Europe and yes they has the E model as well as ES and EF but only until 1987.

The bike is for sale in Italy, an obscure website for me. What caught my eye, was the ad’s description of it being a 1988, and, the picture of the odometer indicates 4.6 kilometers from new…I kind of discount this, but, the bike has piqued my interest. image.jpg

I’m thinking it was a typical “leftover” model, first sold in 1988, hence, titled as “1988”
I’m sure things were the same in Italy, as in the U.S, in that era, the bike world was seeing a massive evolution of technology, so many new technologies bikes coming out, seemed like every few months, making cool bikes only one year old hard to sell. Add into this, the Japanese over production, lots of left over models. Any of our GS Resources members speak Italian?
