I replaced 7 of the 8 exhaust bolts with studs; I stripped the hole with one of them by tightening too much after I already had it done (went back to touch them again) but I put one of the old bolts back in and it held fairly well. Couldn't take it for a test ride because I have a paper to finish by tonight but I'll try to get it out tomorrow.

Hey, Mike. Buffalo Board (may be a trade name) is used as a "low cost" sheeting on the exterior of the wall studs, prior to the siding being applied.

Brown, with a rather coarse, fury interior ( hence the name? ) it is fine in non moisture conditions but tends to swell to 487,658.0047 times it's size, once wet.

Not at all like osb but, it is also considered a slight insulation factor, as well.

1981 Honda CB750 Custom I picked up Friday, (hasn't run in 10 years). Put Kroil in the cylinders Friday night, and hand cranked the engine today. Didn't think the engine was stuck, and it wasn't, but you never know Tore the carbs down tonight and got them in the dip. PO tried to do carbs and front brake job..... EPIC FAIL on both jobs! He broke the front MC and got frustrated so he moved onto the carbs. Spray cleaned them with carb cleaner and managed to break the tips off 2 of the idle screws, so he gave up on the bike. All that was 10 years ago, I gave him $250 for it. Should be a good bike for the wife to ride.

Got the replacement throttle cable for the 78 1000 so i put that on and put the air box and carbs on the bike.

More of the same, however, me and the 850L, have an agreement...

This nice "little hole" is not supposed to be there. .

              And after.

Had to shoot something, tonight. Helps keep the wheels turning!

Changed the oil and filter and adjusted the valves on the Bandit. Found the reason for a problem I have been scratching my head about for a month. The fuel petcock is leaking ever so slightly, causing the number 2 spark plug to burn a fuzz darker than it should. heheh Got a new petcock ordered for it.

My GS has been rubbing on the front rotors. bwringer came over and we checked it out. For whatever reason, the wheel is shifted to the right by a millimeter or two. We decided to ruminate the issue.

New carb boots and O-rings on my 850G. It's amazing how much better the bike runs now. For starters it starts. It wouldn't start all last week. The old rubber was so worn and corroded that 3 out of the 4 boots had separated where it meets the metal flange !
New rubber boots and rings, plus a properly sealed airbox and now my bike starts with one touch and runs so much smoother. I can't believe I had put this off for so long

                      carb rebuild

I have been working on my carbs for the last few days. 12-24 hour dip per carbs takes a long time. Two carbs left then its on to the box and filter and stuff.

Two words... Winter Beater. Kinda like a disposable car up in salt & snow country.

                              Figured as much..

Best "beater" I ever had was a 81-82(?) Datsun B-210 hatchback.
Took a beating to say the least.

Yep, Mke answered it correctly in two words!

The other thing about this Escort specifically, is that the only mechanicals under the car that have not been replaced in the last 20k or less miles are the engine and 5-speed trans. Both of which I've been known to put more than 300k miles on.

Springs/struts (Escort GT upgrade), axles (complete), brakes (rotors, drums, and shoes/pads) in the process of ALL new brake lines, hubs, new tires, tie rods (complete) ball joints, sway bar links, parking brake cables and drum actuators, motor mounts, trans mounts, MSD ignition, Ford Racing 9mm wires, Bosch Platinum +4 plugs (never had a plug problem with these, myself), intake gasket, GT interior, need I go on about how stupid I am...

You could say I like my Escorts as much as my GS's and they all get very well cared for.
