At that price it would be just a show bike to me. But what is the point in showing a bike like this if you didn't do any of the work on it? All you are showing is how much money you could afford to spend.Originally posted by tkent02 View Post

Your opinion is dead nuts accurate. Besides, who are you going to show it to?Originally posted by MAJikMARCer View PostAt that price it would be just a show bike to me. No one is going to be impressed. Just a waste of garage space to me, not all that sentimental about old junk.

I couldn't have something like that just for show, add some hand guards, change the front fender to plastic and raise it 4-5", and it would have mud and dirt in places you could never removeOriginally posted by tkent02 View PostYour opinion is dead nuts accurate. I did that with the first 360 when I was a kid, it was too heavy and had crap suspension then, it would only be worse and hurt a lot more now. That engine in a modern dirt bike would be a hoot.Originally posted by old_skool View PostI couldn't have something like that just for show, add some hand guards, change the front fender to plastic and raise it 4-5", and it would have mud and dirt in places you could never remove

Maybe I should go that route, I've been wanting to do a scrambler project, maybe take an old dirt bike frame, and stuff a modern street engine in, and do an enduro conversion, do the battery conversion a lot of cafe guys do, and make a nice mud bike that I still can ride to where the mud is at first. As far as heavy scramblers, my dad had a 69 Honda 305 scrambler, back in WV he'd climb up and down serious hills with me hanging on the back, I was only about 8 at the time.Originally posted by tkent02 View PostI did that with the first 360 when I was a kid, it was too heavy and had crap suspension then, it would only be worse and hurt a lot more now. There was a guy selling one here for about $1,500, just about as niceOriginally posted by tkent02 View Posthttp://denver.craigslist.org/mcy/2971725185.html

Seems odd to me, $4,200? I bought one just like it for $600 in about 1973, the first bike I actually owned.
Bought two more for $200 sometime in the eighties.

I bought one of these new BITD, rode it mostly on the street, it was OK off road, but no enduro bike.1978 GS 1000 (since new)

 1978 GS 1000 (parts)
 1981 GS 850 (anyone want a project?)

Hate CL posts like that. Search for "Suburban" and a POS like that shows up.
