The snow was pretty and I didn't really try to do the tour around the lake. I didn't see or look for roads to do so as I was interested in seeing how far and long it would take me to go up , have lunch and come. 282 miles by my clock and 272 by MapQuest in 6:45 minutes. That included 45 minute lunch, and a long gas stop, two bee sting checks (ouch!!!). They really must have liked me at the park as they gave me a lifetime pass to come back and visit....Well I paid $10 bucks and can visit any park for free now!!!
Cows out standing in a field.
Mt McLaughlin with Upper Klamath lake in the foreground.
If you squint real hard you can see Mt Shasta over Upper Klamath Lake.
Mt Shasta at the vista point on Hwy 97, just north of A12 in California.Last edited by Charlie G; 05-27-2016, 12:25 PM.sigpic

Lifetime pass for $10??? that's awesome, and what do you mean by Rally Research? Another rally in the Yakima area would be fantastic!!! we could revisit the brewery in Weed.Rob

lurch12_2000
So a friend stopped by and I helped her clean up her bike and get it ready for her riding season. She let me take it for a ride after, so I did. A 30 mile loop on a warm afternoon so this was my ride for the day('04 Fatboy). Hey, I'm game and enjoy trying different bikes out and appreciated her offer. But she thought I would be convinced after to run out and buy a real bike...a Harley. No thanks. Big, heavy, not very comfortable after awhile. Over 70mph when I took a short highway stretch, my eyeballs started vibrating in their sockets, the after market pipes giving me a headache, and the the mini apes tiring my arms and wrist. I've ridden enough Harleys to know that I'll never buy one for $17k or $23k or even $5k. Happy to share her ride though I sent her on her way.

Nice photos Charlie!
That is a fine looking lake, didn't realize it's within 300 miles RT of your neck of the woods.
I bet the back felt great afterwards.
