Yep, two Cooleys. That is what is interesting.
And had seen your other posting that mentioned you going to a show, so I supposed one was yours. Could maybe guess which was yours.
But maybe you rode your Beemer and neither of those were yours.
And maybe there is more to tell about the show.

Did a quick morning sprint up to the Red River. 70 degree temps and low humidity felt amazing. Had breakfast at the river.

Sucks people cant treat what few free public areas that we have in Texas with some respect. GS is running great and the megaphone can sounds better than the straight can I took off a few days ago.

              Something just wasnt right.
Just did not have the sense of adventure, was lacking the wander lust.
I thought it was that I had gotten damp, or maybe was because of the problem with the bike, or maybe was the further chance of rain.
Something just wasnt right. Had most all day to myself, out on the bike, had a route of about the best road in Michigan in front of me, but something wasnt right. Wasnt as enjoyable as was expecting.

Next day I realized that I had had the car keys in my pocket.
Ah... that, THAT was the problem.
I have always said that Cant have a good ride if have car keys in pocket.

Great pictures Joe. Is that last one of an aqueduct or some sort of a rail line?

                      Nice photos (and nice GK).

Although I did shudder at the sight of snow (knowing that is what is coming here in a few months).

                      Looks like some interesting roads.

Got out for a couple of hours this morning. Probably close to 80 miles. Never more than 30 miles from home.

Explored some areas south of me. Found some new fun roads. Also found a section of TN Hwy 64 that appears to be a 20 mile long semi-permanent yard sale. Never seen anything like it. There were literally yard sales on both sides of the road for miles and miles. And they were well attended. In fact I had a couple of close calls due to people in cages being more interested in scoping out the sale than driving.

At one point I turned down a road so poorly paved I almost turned around. But I stuck it out for a while and it got better. Then I rounded a corner and found this:

The sign reads, "Hippie Hill, Helping Hungry Kids." I Googled it when I got home and it's apparently a famous (notorious) "charity."

Lots of good roads nearby though so I focused on those.

                          M-22 return trip.

Return trip home from Traverse City via M-22.
Low to mid 70s, mostly sunny, only slight chance of rain that never did occur.

Map that shows all of M-22.

M-22 goes along the Grand Traverse West bay, up to Northport.
THen down along Lake Michigan on one side in a few places, and lots of inland lakes on other side. Down to Manistee.

Attraction of M-22 is lots of S-curves and other curves (most posted 35mph) around lakes and some elevation changes up and down dunes.
Go thru a few resort-tourist towns. And some places with lots of houses-cottages along a lake that might have pedestrians and such.
But for the most part is lots of S-curves and other curves, and scenic remote area.

Got some pics of roads along various lakes.

Some views of the sand dune bluffs along Lake Michigan that can see from the road.

Some other pics along the way

North of Empire, I diverted off of M-22 to go to the Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore (since I have a Nat'nl Park card). Rode on the Scenic Drive. Need to park in parking lots and walk to various overviews to get the views of the bluffs, but I just cruised thru.

If you go, to make it worth the admission, you will want to take the time to walk at the overlooks. But I was just enjoying the curvey ride up and down the dune.

Hum... didnt get pictures of good curvy M-22 road. Was looking for intersting scene with the M-22 road sign near cross roads, but didnt find any that were a good scene. See such pics the other day (post #8082) from my trip northward.

When get to the southern end of M-22 in Manistee, then is about an hour on US31 2 lane to Ludington, than about another hour on US-31 that is divided simi-limited access highway to home.

About 250 miles total, and I took about 7 hours including a lunch stop, several turn-around-and-go-back-agains, many photo stops, a few side excersions just to see what was down that road, and a couple times of walking to waters edge and standing there staring at a lake and the waves.
(a more direct route would be about 150 miles, under 3 hours)

I took a pleasure cruise this afternoon, checked out a few neighborhoods that were new-to-me. I had to wait for a train, so I figured why not take a pic.

I had a full day. I rode over to Pittsburgh International Race Complex to take in some race action. The Moto America Super Bikes were racing there. All the factory teams where there. Some very exciting racing, them guys are fast. Sure the race bikes are beautiful, but so are the podium girls! ☺
