I just got back from a small ride on the famous hwy 7 from Harrison to Jasper prior to sunset (this is Arkansas) and learned a good lesson about riding with proper gear.

My jacket got some blood splatter on the white, of course, but the face shield took a big hit right between my eyes. It was as though someone sling shot a tomato and scored big time.IMG_20220918_191557602 by Larry Alkire, on Flickr

Seems like one of the best days of this summer was yesterday, three days before autumn.

Both the 11yo and 8yo grandkids and my wife (grandma) all wanted to go for ride with our son (Justin Redmanson) and me (grandpa). But grandma didnt want to go too far, and stay off certain roads. So we figured out the logistics to make that all happen.

        Driveway pic (no roadside pic).....

        Justin, Tiger1050, with one kid.
Grandpa, RT with other kid (switch after stopping for ice cream) (Ice Cream being another grandma request/requirement.)
        Grandma, Shadow500.

Recent weeks my wife (grandma) has been wanting to get back on the bike, has been 3+ years, so we had a couple practice sessions. (need some more).

On an other note: Just received replacement stator & R/R (are other postings about that story), so should have GK back on road before too long.

Fantastic, Dave. Sometimes I wish my wife would ride w/ me. She's a horrible pillion. When we were very young (early 20's) we each rented a moped on Martha's Vineyard. Had a great time. We attempted to do the same w/ our 2 sons years later, w/ her hauling the then 8 year old. Downtown rental place was very busy and lots of traffic. (and this was long before the recent infusion of Central American Immigrants via FLA). She lost her nerve, we returned the scooters. Since then, she's only ridden on the back of my GS two times. Neither was great for me. She'll never ride her own bike. Maybe it's for the best. She wouldn't enjoy the sketchy forest roads I like to travel anyway.

Close encounters of the Amish kind.

Out for a ride on the mountain forest roads yesterday. This doesn't surprise me anymore. Just sharing a bit of PA culture with yinz. Stopped at a turnout to take a drink when I hear before I see, the familiar clip clop, but also loud hip-hop music coming from what sounds like a fairly decent hi-fi system. I really should have taken video w/ audio. Yoder out for a Sunday mountain ride. I've seen these folks way up high in these mountains. I feel bad for the horses.

Had a most pleasant 14-20 minute sessions over 2 days @ Ridge Motorsports Park.
Friday was like a private country club atmosphere with only 8 bikes on track & at sign in, they encouraged us to step up to expert group 3.
Kinda intimidating, but was a great decision, as the other 2 groups were nearly full.

One of my older buddies (73) showed up unexpectedly on Friday with his KTM RC8 1190, so that was fun.
Then on Saturday my buddy I've known since 4th grade showed up on his newly acquired, track prepped Triumph 675, which bought from KTM guy.
Good times were had, although Saturday was super crowded, with many crashes in all groups, but by afternoon sessions, things cleaned up & more open track available.
              Temperature was a perfect 68ish.
              GS\'s since 1982: 55OMZ, 550ES, 750ET, (2) 1100ET\'s, 1100S, 1150ES. Current ride is an 83 Katana. Wifes bike is an 84 GS 1150ES

Would like to see an RC8 let alone ride one.
Kudos to a 73 year old on riding such a hard core bike.

Last day in the Ozarks today so I thought I would support the local economy. Skipped the hotel breakfast for the local neighborhood store.

Then had a last fling with some curvaceous roads.
