hello. thank you all for the warm reception.
I'm doing the AMA thing at 10:00 in the morning on thursday, jan 4.

Dear Wes Cooley

Do note that I personally don't come from a time where I remember you racing... Probably because when you won your first championship my father was just finishing up middle school.
Anyway, I want to welcome you aboard to this forum. As you may get that some of us (myself in this group) grew up naive to how imperative your victories were to the development and evolution of the motorcycles we love today. I know how your works and victories with Yoshimura influenced the evolution of the "GS" sport bike to the eventual refinement of the GSX-R line that it is today. Those first steps you took while racing those UJMs were the very first down a path of what eventually would become the modern Japanese super sport bikes of today.
So in that regard I'm honored and thankful to have you on board with us.
My 2 cents about GSR; while navigating this mess of convoluted ideas and personal opinions (in some extreme cases are more important than yours), be sure to grab the table salt before sitting down on your computer, you'll need a pinch or two to make it through, at times. So FYI... (liquor helps too)
We do have some phenomenal folks on here and I strongly urge you to try to make it to your local (or any) GSR meet. GSR is great because it's active members are great. Many of whom i would consider family... There is a great network of folks here and I encourage you to reach out to as many folks as you can!

I used to be an active member here, when I had two GS's and lived in the States, but I still check in every now and then. And sometimes when I do I never know what to expect, so today when I saw Wes Cooley is now a member, wow! What a pleasant surprise, I remember reading bike racing articles in the late 70's and not all that long ago searching out some of Wes's bike racing on You Tube. And every now and then Wes could post something here about "pulling" the trigger on a new bike. Well, I think this site and Wes Cooley are a good match, and to the GS1000, which Wes brought to fame in Daytona. The '78 GS1000E I bought in early '79 in Alaska was my first superbike and will probably always be my favorite. It had good bones! Wes proved it!

But then to see Trevor back, I thought I was seeing things, I mean his little green light is usually on when I visit but no new posts, but today was different. Welcome back Trevor!

I'm just staying out of the vortex...it really seems to have taken over the forum...pretty bad when two moderators do most of their own posting in the vortex. Oh well...my life is better without it.

Thanks to Steve for replying to this thread. It is amazing how things work out. We do appreciate Trevor here...at least I can say, I do as well as several other Canadian members and a few Americans here.

You can always get another GS Steve...but where you are living gives you other options. Good to read you posting periodically.
