Couldn't figure out that NOISE ! - Until now ..

I have been hearing this noise - this rattle - this metallic sound that has made me crazy trying to figure out
    What was that ..!?!?
    Low on oil ? Nope
    Carb Synch ? Nope
    Valve Shims ? Nope
    Brakes? Nope
    Loose parts..Bodywork ? Nope
Must be deep inside the engine...

See if you can spot the noise maker in the attached photo ---

My question is. How long have you been looking for that and thought you lost it??

Pics linked to other sites like Bucket are much easier to see.

Oh well Glad you found your annoyance.

On Sunday, I found a 20V Dewalt drill with a 12" electrical bit up in the rafters at a place I do maintenance at.
Unreachable with out a ladder and not mine. Just happened to look up and there it was.

Funny how things can hide in plain sight.

Years ago when I had my first bike (Kawi LTD 550), I was concerned by intermittent clanging / rattling. Turns out that it was tools from the tool kit leaving one by one.

And have you bought another one to replace it?
After you fish that out of there would you see if my plug gap measuring tool is in the vicinity.

In the first (small) photo, I thought something was loose and hanging by the wires under the tank.

In the second photo, I saw your noise maker.

That is just awesome. If you have never faced an issue like that, either you haven't done much work, or you grew up in aviation land where every tool is counted in and out.

(I grew up on a farm and then a ship. We found stuff all the time.)

When I first started digging through the 650G, I found a Phillips head screwdriver lodged between the rear mudguard and the airbox that the PO must have dropped when working on it. No telling how long it had been there.

I lost a 20V Dewalt drill last summer. I was taking old riding mowers to the scrap yard, and drilling holes in the plastic fuel tanks to be sure they were empty. I got distracted, and left it on the trailer. It's surely been recycled. It was nearly new. Bummer.
