    Strange GS Related ebay Transaction

On June 11 I sold a set of carbs on ebay to a buyer in Hungary. https://www.ebay.com/itm/333212242821?ul_noapp=true Used ebay "Global shipping" program which means I shipped to KY and then the package is forwarded to the buyer by ebay. After a week or so I received notice from ebay that the transaction can not be completed due to some restriction regarding the item involved. I have no idea what could be restricted about some carbs other than maybe concern over possible gasoline inside, but regardless, the notice received stated ebay would not be returning the carbs nor would they take the money back back from me. A bit odd, but a sale is a sale so whatever.

Browsing ebay tonight and guess what shows up? My carbs, or maybe just photos of them. I sent the seller on ebay a question asking for more info about the carbs, such as how they came to possess them, and if the photos are of the actual carbs. Should be interesting...https://www.ebay.com/itm/163770715747

Nobody outside the US has a good word to say about ebay's shipping. Prior to them insisting it must be used, we could use a couple of mail accumulating and forwarding concerns which worked really well. The current setup doesn't.

What's happened to your one makes me wonder if they sell off undeliverable parcels.

Well not only are they the same photos, but the description of the rebuild is also word for word. Have you had any contact with the original buyer? If they don't receive the carbs they may open up a case against you.

              My question to seller...

Can you please tell me more about these carbs such as how did you obtain them and are the photos of the actual carbs you are selling? Thanks in advance.

....I think it's called "Drop-shipping" or something like that. The new owner has figured they can make money reselling your carbs for a profit. Note that this person has feedback of 60,319. They are pros.

I saw a story where someone was manufacturing some kind of pet accessory. It was very popular and hard to supply demand. Not long after, the item showed up on amazon at a higher price than the original manufacturer's. In essence, the drop-shipper sold the item on amazon, then placed the order (with whatever name and address they'd sold it to) with the manufacturer...so, this middleman got a large profit simply by fiddling with their keyboard. A larger profit than the manufacturer, in fact!

There's a lot of this that goes on. When you see the same item adverised by a multitude of sellers, I'd bet that an awful lot of them don't actually have the item on the "premises"..or even if any of them do.

                        .
Drop shipping is when you sell something you don't have. After the sale is made an order is placed with the distributor/manufacturer with a "ship to" address of the end user. That doesn't apply in the case of these carbs.

Edit: called ebay to try to find out what's going on. Person I talked to said they didn't think ebay would resell items such as these carbs that got hung up in Global Shipping. The more I think about it though I'm not convinced. Anyway, the CSR said that the item has been reported to ebay's fraud investigation unit for review. If the ad stays up I think that will tell the story.

I think someone is stealing ebay shipping items and fencing them to resellers.

Have you heard from the buyer in Hungary? Seems like he is the one that is hurt here. You have the money, the buyer has nothing. Is "Global Delivery" owned by eBay or a third party? This needs further investigation, maybe by a TV "consumer advocate"

The buyer got refunded so he's out nothing. He's one of those pain in the butt buyers too: he asked me question after question before the purchase, repeating himself, and he kept trying to get me to give him a $100 discount as if it's my fault that his country charged exorbitant import fees. And even after he got his money back he gave me a negative feedback. I had to get ebay involved to have that removed. And even recently he keeps writing me stating he wants the carbs. I told him again and again that I don't have them but he persists, even after giving me a negative.
