    Clutch Basket Shim?

    1979 GS1000E

The basket has been shimmed and welded, so the rattle issue is fixed.

At idle there is still a little noise intermittently, but it's not a rattle, more of a ebbing sound. The basket has a little play, but nothing out of line in my experience (with other bikes). How much play is acceptable?

Anyway, what is the classic shim location (where to shim) for "tightening up" the basket? Or is it in the rubber buttons etc.

I am going to pull the starter clutch, but I need to address the basket first if that's the issue.

    Wrong forum.

Needs to be deleted here and posted in technical forum/engine/drivetrain/clutch.
