I asked the same question a while back. Here's a thread with some good info. https://www.thegsresources.com/_foru...ighlight=skunk
but simply, 1978 GS1000 w/ black tank w/ the white stripe.Last edited by Rich82GS750TZ; 08-20-2020, 07:31 AM. -
The tank has to have the indentation where the stripe goes too...I asked the same question a while back. Here's a thread with some good info. https://www.thegsresources.com/_foru...ighlight=skunk
but simply, 1978 GS1000 w/ black tank w/ the white stripe.
There’s got to be a more recent start thread than 2009...I know the question has been asked within the past couple of years.

Wouldn't that make it the very first GS1000, the one that dethroned the KZ1000?

Nope, that would be the GS 1000 (sometimes referred to as a C model), In some markets there appears to be an HC model

But '78s also, correct? As I recall it, the '77 GS750 was so quick, I wasn't surprised when the GS1000, introduced in the U.S. in '78, became quickest in the quarter mile. I recall Cycle World saying it was due to more extreme cams.1982 GS1100E V&H "SS" exhaust, APE pods, 1150 oil cooler, 140 speedo, 99.3 rear wheel HP, black engine, '83 red

So flattered that you still have a photo of this old banger.
It hasn't run since '87
Here's a photo of it after it was cleaned up.Z74A2348 - Copy.jpgsigpic
Don't say can't, as anything is possible with time and effort, but, if you don't have time things get tougher and require more effort.Comment
