    Hello from Paris

    Hello everyone,

I live in Paris and I’m riding a1978 GS1000E since 2020. I’ve never seen other GSs than mine in France

    My GS history…
This is my 2nd GS1000 I ever had, the first one was a 1979 GS1000 (wire wheels) and rode it in Japan from 2014 to 2017. I unfortunately lost it in a T bone collision with a BMW X4 crossing the road without checking his surroundings. I was extremely lucky to have only minor injuries.
Since I moved in France in 2017 end, I checked leboncoin (French Craigslist) everyday for a GS1000, and finally found the one I own today in 2020.
I had to spend a lot of time to make it look like what it is today, but it was definitely worth it.

    Main mods on my GS1000E:
    - KN air pods + dyno jet stage3 + Delkevic exhaust
    - Full transistor ignition system
    - GT750 discs + Brembo P08 Caliper + AP Racing Supersport pads
    - Brembo racing PR16x18 master cylinder
    - Renthal street bar + ZRX1100 throttle pipe & grips
    - Hyperpro Fork spring + NITRON rear shocks
    - 18” rear wheel from a GS750
    - Continental classic attack tires

Currently I’m looking for a factory 1978 gas tank/ tail to match the rest of the motorcycle.

    Nice to meet you all!!

When consulting the magic 8 ball for advice, one must first ask it "will your answers be accurate?"

Nice find. The "78" tanks are rare, expensive, & usually going to bikes that are going to be put back completely original. My opinion the "78" tank & tail wouldn't add much to what you have now...A very nice looking old non OEM GS. Congrats on what you've got & Welcome.
