    New member, recently acquired two GS's 1981 GS250T & 1992 GSX1100G

Both bikes bought from same seller, both with very low miles, both sat for better part of 20 years. Currently working on getting the GS250 running, thought it would be simple little bike to get running right....I jinxed myself.

If you'd been jinxed you wouldn't have found this place. Plenty of answers around here, All needed is the questions... Oh yeah, Welcome and we love pictures. GSX1100G, only made 3 yrs., we don't see many around here.

The 250 has been giving me fits. Got it running pretty quickly as the PO did a proper draining of tank/carb bowls before storage. But, the airbox boots are dried out & shrunken & won't seal. Have tried soaking them in everything from wintergreen oil to brake fluid to no avail. It's running very rich due to the leaks around the boots.

These boots are no longer available anywhere that I can find, so pulled the airbox and going to give it a go with pods and a 6 sigma jet kit. Not trying to turn it into a crotch rocket, just want to make it run decent enough to be a good 'round town bike.

Plan B, if not successful with the pods, will be to re-engineer the stock airbox so that I can make an airtight connect to the carbs with some silicone intake tubing.

You got me kinda excited there for a second, but I need the boots on the other side of carb, for the airbox, which are same as GS450 from the same era.

The manifolds I have are still good & not leaking. I would normally just replace both straightaway on such a project and this is first time I've run into not being able to find new replacements. And that includes about 1/2 a dozen 2-3 year only bikes.

GS250????? I did not know there was such a thing! I thought 425 was the smallest GS they made.
                  - 1983 GS850L ~ 30,000 miles and going up - Finally ready for a proper road trip!
                  - 1977 GS750B - Sold but not forgotten

Sorry, no help for carb boot problem, I'm sure not fond of pods. Also "Zuki" made a GS125 from "79" thru "85"... The model history section of this site, from the home page, tells a whole lot...

Well, I'm happy to give an initial positive report on Uni Pods and the 6 sigma stage 3 jet kit. Out of the box, with no additional tuning (haven't even re-synced the carbs yet), she runs like a little 250 twin should (that sensation of going faster than you really are). It has a minor, but noticeable, very brief flat spot at 5k with WOT, but I would almost expect that regardless and might be able to tune it out, but it really isn't of huge concern as this is more of my 'round town put put bike. haha. Other than that spot @ 5k, it pulls quite good through the entire RPM range, which blows my expectations away.

You could seal the carb boots to the air box with Butyle rubber, the strip the comes in the thing square box, for windshields. That stuff will seal, and will not get sucked through. It's black and you won't notice it. It works great. That is one nice looking 1200G. Probably one of the cleanest examples I've seen. I tried to buy one last Summer but ended up with a ZZR1200 Kawasaki. It had only 4875 miles on it, and for $2200 bucks, I couldn't let it pass, and the guy sold out the Suzuki from underneath me. I drove 1.5 hours with a trailer to get the Suzuki, and he sold it to a guy who got there an hour before me, even though he knew I was on my way. I was extremely *@%^$*@%^$*@%^$*@%^$ed off, so he gave me the deal on the ZZR1200. I told him he had to compensate me one way or the other, considering I had spoken to him an hour earlier.

Beautiful bike you have there. I'm jealous. Congratulations!
