    Another newbie - 1987 Suzuki GS450L

Hello all! I moved at the end of last year, and with that sold my 1978 Honda CB400A. It wasn't running when I got it and I used that to cut my teeth on motorcycle repair and mechanics in general (I'm a programmer by day, so I'm usually messing with electronics and software). Got it running beautifully and sold it to a very happy new owner.

Now that we're settled in, I started looking for another vintage bike and just scooped up this gorgeous 1987 Suzuki GS450L. Definitely an upgrade in ways, and I'm excited to dive in. I've been reading everything I can on here, but I'm sure to have questions so I'm looking forward to meeting some of you!

    ---

Unrelated, but it looks like several of the guides on BikeCliff's website are giving me an access error. Anyone have a backup or mirror? I have a physical copy of the appropriate Clymer's guide, but would love as much info as I can get

    Thanks!

      Welcome to the site!

      Was that Honda 4 cylinders?

If so, I wouldn’t consider the GS450 an "upgrade."

But opinions are like armpits. Everybody's got one, and it usually stinks.
1982 GS1100E V&H "SS" exhaust, APE pods, 1150 oil cooler, 140 speedo, 99.3 rear wheel HP, black engine, '83 red

2016 XL883L sigpic Two-tone blue and white. Almost 42 hp! Status: destroyed, now owned by the insurance company. The hole in my memory starts an hour before the accident and ends 24 hours after.

CB400A is an automatic transmission twin. 1980 and later.

          More of these work, thanks!

However the "GS400-450 '77-'87" service manual just dumps me at Microsoft OneDrive and says I don't have access. But I'm pretty sure this is the Clymer manual I already have. What I'd really like is the "GS450 Wiring Diagram (color)", but I might be able to find that somewhere on here

Yikes! I don't even like automatic cars. You can imagine what I think of automatic bikes.

That link is for the real Suzuki manual. I've got a copy. Send me a PM and I'll figure out a way to get it posted somewhere so you can download it.
