The PO says the decals are "original Euro style from England".
bccap, great tool suggestion. Probably one I wouldn't forget though.Comment

The front tire will have a tube, not 100% sure on the rear, so the tire repair kit might half work. Garth, GREAT tool kit!!

I almost forgot to mention a super important tool, a tube of gasket maker. Something that is high heat, oil resistant. If it is useable quickly that's a bonus. After loosing a valve cover gasket in Montana a couple of years ago I never travel without one now. I use a product called "therightstuff", the black stuff. Did 4000kms after that blow out and it held perfectly.Comment

Great thanks earlfor and azr for the additions. I'll put together the final list of suggestions in one place and post.
Have the sylvania. silverstar h4 spare bulb, got a headlamp flashlight and a small powerful led lantern for setting up camp in the dark. Need to find my "net" bungee, found that useful for wrapping the pile of gear I'm likely to have behind me (tent, sleeping bag, tarp and such).Comment

I put my tent, sleeping bag and tarp into a wet bag I picked up at the local outdoor shop.

it can also come in handy to help support this

He's got a brand new electronic ignition from Dyna
Dales got a point about a tester. I picked up a palm size Multimeter from Canadian tire that I take on my trips, haven't had a need for it yet but it's comforting to have.

That '79 didn't come with a Halogen headlight. I would make sure about that too.sigpic Too old, too many bikes, too many cars, too many things

That's one of the few things that hasn't been upgraded yet. There is no H4 headlight in there yet. It's a very good point, don't plan on doing any night riding till you get an H4 in there

Ok thanks,
Have a new H4 so I'll put it in there if the PO hasn't done that already. I remember coming down out of the mountains into Vancouver at night, in hard rain with a big truck behind me and couldn't see squat with the headlight.
I"m convinced.Comment
