    Hello from Las Vegas

Hello fellow GS owners! I finally bought my dream bike. A 1983 GS1100E. I've wanted one of these since I was a teenager and it just never worked out until now. I bought it two weeks ago in Utah and rode it home to North Las Vegas in 108 degree heat. The speedometer stopped at 18,000 miles so I'm unsure what the real mileage should be. I have a new clutch cable, new chain and sprockets, new rear wheel bearings and K&N air filters ordered. When I took the chain off, the nut fastening the counter sprocket could be easily turned with my fingers. Scary stuff...lol. The shop manual arrived today and I'm trying to find time to read it. I'm no mechanic, but I'm going to try and do most repairs on this bike myself. I've been reading the faq's and loved the 10 most common newbie mistakes that went well beyond 10. This looks like a wonderful website and I look forward to learning as much as possible about my wonderful new ride!

It's my dream bike too. (I have an '82 painted to look like an '83.)

Can we see some pics, please?

    Welcome to the club.

I haven't figured out how to post pics in this thread, although I did create an album with 3 or 4 pics of my bike.

Steve, the previous owner was a really cool 71 yr old man that had about 7 or 8 old Suzuki's sitting around, including a Hayabusa with extended swing arm that he drag races! He bought this one from a nephew that was needing cash and I believe it was just in the way. The guy was as nice as he could be, though. He just sent me an owners manual through the mail for the bike.

It sounds like you bought it from Bernie.

                Nice looking bike.
Always liked the sound of the Supertrapp muffler.

See the battery. That's how it came to me. I need to replace it so it will fit into the battery box.
