Hi!
I purchased a 1978 GS500 nearly 2 years ago, along with another bike for spares. Both were in a very-very sad condition, and to be honest still are. I finally have some free time to work on them, up to now they were just sitting in the corner of my small workshop. The previous owner started a cafe racer conversion, so the frame is cut and in no condition to be restored to 100% original. So it's more of a project bike.
I'm nearly 30, not new to motorcycles (but until recently I only had 2Ts) and also have some experience with vehicles. I restored a few bikes from the 60's and 70's, I worked as an aircraft mechanic for years, and actually work at the local car/engine factory in Győr, Hungary.
The GS is disassembled and on shelves, in paper boxes. But I have a picture from the last owner, this was the one in the ad:
