What to look for in an 1100 GK?

A quick answer or point me toward a thread or two would be great.

    Thank you, Brett

A member here in Dayton has a very nice one for sale at a reasonable price.

Fly in, ride it home. Quick before the snow flies.

Thanks...I saw an ad for an '82 GK 125 miles from me. Pictures not great, so I sent an email to the owner for more information and better pics. Just wondering what I need to know if I get serious enough to make the trip.

Research this place, read as long as you like. By the time you go look at one you'll probably know far more about it than the seller does.

What's his asking price? And as the others have said, check the road ready bikes for sale forum here.

Just like any other bike, look at tire age (by looking at the DOT date code on the sidewall), ask about brake maintenance, oil change, valve adjustment, carb rebuild.

On the GK, make sure that ALL of the locks take the same key. Note that there are 12 or 13 locks.
Because it's an '82, ask if the splines in the rear wheel have been changed.
Take a voltmeter, check the charging voltage.
Look at the electrical connectors around the fusebox for discoloration and general condition.
            Check battery age.

All of those issues have already been addressed on the bike I gave you a link to in post #2.

Thank you gentlemen! He's asking $1300, but as it's October in Montana and I think it could be had quite a bit cheaper.
