New to the gs bike. Its was running when i first got my hands on it. Been having some trouble with the bike getting up past 45 mph. I know this bike has a lot more power. But i cant figure out what the problem is. I just went through and got the timing down and i pulled the carbs off to check them. After i put them back on and went to start the bike back up, but as soon as i did, its sitting at about 4000 RPM and wotn droo down no matter what i do. I messed with the idle screw and the fuel mixture but it dosemt affect it one bit. Anyone who has any suggestion please help!!!

The carbs are in need of a full tear down and rebuild. Here is the rebuild link..
Oring kit here..1 kit is all youll need. And replace the ingtake manifolds orin gs whilke the carbs are off. see page 3 of the oring website for information....

Also, do the valve adjustments while everything else is down for maintenance.

Probably sketchy carbs as Chuck mentioned, could also be cracked carb boots causing an air leak.
Maybe even improperly routed throttle cables.2@ \'78 GS1000Comment

Just quickly I'd say you probably haven't got your throttle cable connected correctly.
You should do all the other stuff that Chuck has mentioned though.Current:

Pick your bike from the list and you can search all the sub fiches. Things with a price listed are still available. If you can wait for the 2 weeks from ordering then go with Parts outlaw. Or you can copy and paste part numbers on Ebay and do some comparison shopping.
