Picked up this beautiful '78 gs550 with 2500 miles

    Hi all,

Im from minnesota and ive been riding for two seasons now. My first bike was a absolutely clapped gs550l that i sold last winter. I was on the hunt for a new bike and I found a absolutely mint gs with 2500 miles listed at 1600 dollars. I quickly called the guy and drove a hour and a half to get it. I managed to get the bike for 1400. Bike ran great but the battery had died on the way home. I am currently in the middle of diagnosing stator and or rectifier/ regulator issues. But in the end I couldnt be happier with the bike. Happy to be apart of the forum. Thanks guys.

        Welcome to the site, Snowman.
        Great looking bike.
I prefer the look of the stock flat seat but that one looks .comfortable

          Nice bike. Congrats.

The ground for the regulator is very poor on those bikes and goes through the battery box. Fair chance corrosion is causing the issue.

Looks like an L model seat.

          Good luck

Simply beautiful! Nice score and small sacrifice for such a good looking bike.
