The E is a 16-valve engine with screw and locknut adjustment.

The G (and the GL) are shim and bucket.

I am not sure.Only 1 picture and its over in dallas.it has a tail cowl section like my former 850 g.The picture looks good.The guy's father passed away.It turns over but has not run for awhile. he says.He says his dad had the carbs cleaned.Asking 700.I was going to offer 400.

In my opinion, these two are conflicting statements.

The '83 1100E does have a tail section, but it's not as boxy as the 850G (or the similar 1000/1100G).

I guess the clincher would be ... is it chain drive or shaft? Chain-driven 1100s are 16 valve, shafties are all 8-valve (except for the GS450GA).

That would be an 1100GL with shims and buckets.

The basic bike is the same as the 1100G, it just has some weird ergonomics, so make sure it fits you BEFORE committing to it.

I think I am not going to buy it unless its cheap,like 300.probably will need tank treated, tires,new chain,carbs cleaned,oil will look like molasses, brake fluid will be brown, tires probably shot. Ergonomics are important.I could easily have 2,000 in it.there are already done and running ones for that price.

It won't need a chain. It's shaft-driven.
