New owner diving in head first!

So my 17yr old son bought a 1982 CX500, tore it down, cut and welded it up and built a bad*ss machine! I got jealous. So I went out and bought a 1980 GS1000E. Can?t let the son have something faster than me. The 1000 runs perfect and had the electrical upgrade and 530 chain and gears. I?ll post pictures of my progress.

    Yes, do post pics.

Yah, 1000E should be faster than CX500. .... and no cutting and welding required to look great.

Welcome winmag. Great that you and your son share this passion. If you want to know about showing more than one pic in a post (up to 10), the way to do it is to have the images hosted on a image sharing site like imgur. And they show up nicer in the forum instead of the little thumbnails that you have to click to expand. Copy the BB Code in whatever size you want to post and paste it into your post, no need to mess with the toolbar image buttons. It's pretty easy once you've done it a few time. Dave (Redman) did that with your pics above. He has written up a pretty good tutorial on how to do this and I'm sure he'd direct you to it if you're interested. He's probably bored anyway.

                WM,

What I wrote/posted was very specific for Flicker. But same general idea applys.
FOr fourm posting I would more recommend imgur.

But for any photo hosting site, imgur, goggle, whatever: find a way to copy the BB code (sometimes called IMG code) (or called "sharing") and paste into the forum posting.

And good to see a 17yo that can actually do something.

To be fair, my son isn?t a typical 17yr old. He?s got 3+yrs of racing under his belt in the Road to Indy series and he?s also worked as a driving and tuning coach for other kids. He rebuilt and rewired a 1982 BMW e21 when he was 15. I just try to keep up. LOL

Welcome. Cool on the father / son aspect, and congrats on your sons accomplishments.
I cant quite tell from the pic, but is your bike an olive drab green? If so, and guessing by your location, you may be the third GSR member to own that bike.

That very well may be. The guy I bought it from owned it about three years. Getting the motor out tomorrow and will check chain and valves. I drove the heck out of it for a week to give it a shake down. Besides throwing the nut off the front sprocket, everything seems just fine and the electric has been upgraded. Looks like the carbs have not been gone through in a while judging by the rust, but I'm going through those.
If you have some better history, let me know. It's currently sitting at 39k miles.

The rattle can matte green is horrible. LOL It will be baby blue with white stripes. Should be a little easier on the eyes!
