    New Member again

Some years and change ago I joined here with my first bike, a GS400. Eventually moved on from it to several others and this weekend found a nostalgic fixer-upper: a GS550. Of course I need another project like I need a hole in the head but I'm sure most of you sympathize.

Here's What it looks like as it got home last night.

Story is the PO got it cheap, rode it briefly till it just quit. replaced melted coils and it ran a bit more till it quit again last summer and it's been sitting since. Looks unmolested but for the header and neglect. Tank's been sealed already so that's one more thing to deal with.

Hi, Kamesama!-Looks like a good project alright...nice to have a rear disk brake..I'm not really familiar with these 550s but in the 80s it' seems to be pretty special to get a rear disc on any medium sized bike...

      Kam, Welcome (back) to GSR.

I would guess that to be a 79 based on the carbs and the kickstarter.

      Columbus Indiania, you say.

Depending on how long ago it was that you were on GSR, you may recall an annaul GSR rally based in Columbus in mid May.
Now it is in June in Bedford.
