    What a story!

I especially like when you say, "my pound puppy is gone". You were so use to her being there...and then she wasn't.

I'm glad you got her back. Hopefully, those people didn't do too much harm to your bike.

Seems as though you will have an even deeper affection for your bike now that she's back.

Great outcome from this temporary sad story.

*@%^$*@%^$*@%^$*@%^$ty story. Drugs and desperation drive a lot of stupidity. Glad you have her back. I'd say clean her up an dget her going, but then she's going be a target again. Ha, smalltimore...that sounds so en pointe

Thanks everyone. I appreciate all the well wishes. ...so I had enough spare parts from my other, disassembled, 650 that I was able to piece the recovered bike back together. I just had a go at starting her up but no luck. The starter sound great, but the only thing I've got from the engine is a a couple of LOUD backfires. I checked the float blows for fuel, which they had, and checked that that plugs were getting a spark, also good. Any ideas on what I should look at next? I have no clue what this dimwit did to my bike in the barley 24 hours he had it, but I'm pretty determined to not let this be the end of her.

Could your plug or coil wires be reversed? That will create the loud bang you describe. (Ask me how I know)

At this point Leprechauns could be living in the gas tank for all I know, but plug connections being missmatched sounds likely and easy to check so I'll take a look at that.

Alright, I'll bite. Sounds like a fun story. How do you know?

Remove all the spark plugs...crank it over awhile..might have got laid done or something and plugs got wet. Check crankcase for gasoline contamination
