New member - Hello!!

Hi. Just saying hello. I recently purchased a 1977 GS 750. Hasn?t been used much in a couple years. It runs pretty good and the charging system seems good as per all the great info on this forum and the gsresource site!!

Got forks seals, air and oil filters on the way. It was painted reddish by someone in the past. They also tried painting the engine black. It?s flaking off easy though. I plan to restore to original as best I can. I?m going to pretend the original colour was blue because I absolutely love the 77 blue!! Lol.

I got a 80 xs 650 running and in good working order about a year ago. Sold it after I did everything I wanted to. Now I?m keen on restoring this GS. I?m already very impressed by the vast amounts of info on this forum!! I hope I can shed my lurking status ASAP and help others as I learn about these awesome bikes!!

Welcome & congrats on your new project. Huge step up from a Yamaha XS 650 to a Suzuki GS 750. It's kind'f like jumping from a Ford Pinto into a Chevy Camaro SS. Should be great project. Good luck.

UNI do replacement filters that fit on the original cage - work great. You will probably need to run some door seal foam around the top of the cage & also on the airbox door etc.

Thanks for the UNI advice!! I had already found a K&n filter on amazon. $70. It fits into the original case. No foam though. I was on the UNI site just now, there?s definitely a lot of foam sheet options. Do you think this k&n will work as well?

The best way to post pics is to set up a free account on a site like Flickr or Imgur, and load up your pics there. I've written a tutorial for Imgur- linked in my signature.

And I had a chance to pull plugs last night. I think this is called carbon fouling. Too rich.. my air filter was basically falling to pieces, so hopefully this new one will help. Got carb o rings and gaskets and brake pads on order. Hurry up and wait eh?!? Back brake is dragging. I bled them with fresh fluid and took them out, sanded lightly. Still draggy. Front hoses look new ish to me and fluid was clean. Back hoses look old and fluid was filthy.
