My New GS1000

Just bought this bike here in the UK I believe it originally came from the US as this colour and the spoked wheel single disc configuration was never sold officially in the uk it appears totally standard with the exception of the bars
which are for sure off a Z900

Can anyone fill me in the one the machine specs

Dang, just like the one I rode from west coast to east coast back in 1979. Great find & all looks OEM, even the relatively tall bars look like the ones that came on those old GS's. Don't have specs, but shouldn't be different from the GS 1000's in your part of the world. I'm thinking the only differences in the GS1000 "C" & GS1000 "EC" were the dual brakes, cast wheels, & paint. Hoping that old bike is still as good as it looks. Congrats & Welcome to the GSR.

Since nobody else has mentioned it, the bike appears to be a 1978 GS1000C.

Pay no attention to the handlebar haters. If they are comfortable for YOU, they are great bars.

This one appears to have the chromed steel wheels, not the wheels with alu rims these bikes used to have.

Useless fun fact about those alu rim spoke wheels : Suzuki only used those for the first 6 months in 1978,
because after the introduction of the GS1000 in 1977 on the Autosalon in Paris, France the order volume
was much higher than expected and production of the cast wheels was not up to speed yet.

I managed to find the the 1st owner of the bike when it go to the UK it did originally have alloy rims. However they had suffered very badly at the heavy hands of tyre fitters past and were unserviceable so he had the wheels rebuilt with the steel rims you see here

I Intend to keep it and ride maybe do a few classic shows here in the UK I thought about a full nut and bolt restoration but she really is to good for that I think so I'm going to keep pretty much as is. Perhaps get fasteners replaced and perhaps convert to twin discs

this single disc is a bit borderline on modern roads here in the UK

That's a very nice condition GS1000.

If you want to do something with brakes.. have a look at the link below. The duals aren't that much better than the single as the single Disk is bigger than the dual and partially makes up for the difference.
