Location: Mirror Lake Scenic Byway, Utah/Wyoming
    Rider(s): 80GS1000
    Date: 7-29-06
Door to door distance from Salt Lake City: ~260 miles

First of all, I'm so glad there's a community of fellow GS owners. You have been an invaluable source of information regarding GS bikes. \\/

I decided to take a first-time motorcycle ride on the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway yesterday from Kamas, UT to Evanston, WY. The views were outstanding and I can't think of a better way to see them than on a motorcycle.

The road gets pretty high here:

Man, that looks incredible! The scenery isn't bad either.

Did the bike run any different at the higher elevations? Sounds like a wonderful trip!

Thanks for the comments. The bike still runs strong at higher elevations, although you can tell that you're losing a bit of power due to the lower amount of oxygen in the air. I believe the previous owner of the GS had the carbs rejetted at 4500 feet, so the altitude isn't as much of an issue.
