Had to go to a burial on sunday for the wifes grandparents (long story there). Wife said take the bike if i wanted. she took the truck with the kids. went from pueblo, co to a place called gold hill outside of boulder. good ride till i got to boulder. took near 45 minutes to drive thru boulder. it was 98 degrees from what i hear. the 1100 didn't like the heat of idling forever it seemed in traffic. got to gold hill. had to drive about 15-20 miles of dirt road. took off from gold hill and BACK thru boulder again. went to brighton and did some things then back to pueblo. odometer showed 337 miles for the trip, matched the trucks. took around 6 gallons of fuel or so. now the question. how do you handle riding in the heat thru towns when you run into long waits. bike got hot, i got hot. the bike used about 3/4 of a quart of oil. never done it before. no leaks noticed. just a hard day on the 1100.

When I lived in Modesto California, I rode my Yamaha Seca 650 often in heat well over 110 degrees. I just didn't idle it if at all possible. When I came to a red light I'd just shut it off etc. Seemed to work O.K. -
I was fiddling with my carbs today, dripping sweat all over the place. Went for a test run after lowering my jet needles and asked my wife how hot it was. 110 she said. :shock:
It felt like I was at work standing in front of a convection oven.Comment
