Aren't you one of those guys that rides around everywhere with empty luggage too? Maybe you should unbolt that stuff until you're actually on a road trip.
    Bill
    Hey, Bill,

Nope, One side bag has various other gloves, raingear, chaps and such.
Other side bag often has my tool pouch and meters from work. Rear trunk is usally somewhat empty, but has extra lights with wiring that not so easy to disconnect.

Maybe you should have ridden that little Honda today!
      Hi Tom,

I now know they have been bent too many times and need to be replaced. Especailly after I bent them back into place (well, somewhat back into place).

Yah the Shadow500 would have been a lot easier to pick back up.

Working on it, Greg. I search eaby every couple days. I found one on auction, knew it was for a GK, then we were away for the day and I forgot about the auction and didnt get it. Drat.
I see other bars listed and not certain same as GK, or not sure enough for the cost anyway.

Yah, should do another ride yet this September.

Oh, this happened not too far off the same route you and I went. North & west of Bridgeston.

It sounds like the bar could be compromised a bit, maybe even cracked or rusted inside. I would not use the bike until the bars can be replaced.

            Last chapter of the story

Buffalo Bill contacted me, said he had a stock set of bars off his 1100G. So we worked out a deal. Bill suggested that rather than ship the bars, we meet somewhere about half way (we are about 100 miles apart), and I thought that was a pretty smart idea.

            So today we did that.
Met about half way, had lunch.
Even found things to talk about besides GS motorcycles.
And then changed out the bars in the parking lot.

Thanks, Bill, Good to meet you.
We should get together for more of a ride.

            Dave "Redman"

Learned to ride in the sand of W. MI. Had Kawasaki with dual range transmission. Neither appropriate for sand. Either bogged down, or buried itself.

Still wouldn't trade those days. Beautiful place.
