We're not nearly as daring as you Chris. If I really want to ride outside of the country, I'll head to the Domenican. I have family that can set me up with wheels and lodging. Either way, I'll need to put both bikes back together first. (Got the carbs apart for cleaning.)


Plus PJ hasn't learned to ride yet.

I've been tempted to take him into the basement while I work on the carbs, but the gas fumes made me nervous.

As soon as he can hold his head up I'll put him on the bike and see what he does...lol

Well Deedee and I got together and learned how to reassemble Keihin carbs today. I had a hell of a time remembering what went where. (I took them apart last week.)

She got peeved at me when she had to dip her finger in engine oil to lubricate the o-rings. either way, she did one and I did the other.


So, she has now :

• flushed her front brake
• Rebuilt her starter
• rebuilt her carburetor

I still wish I could get her to pay as much attention to her car.

Do you mean the Domincan Republic?! I wouldn't drive a car there! I was in Santo Domingo in 1999 and would close my eyes as we drove through the city (I was a passenger : ). It is one huge game of chicken there and most of those drivers are NOT chicken. Of course, by the end of the week I was riding in the back of the pick up without a care in the world. But I still wouldn't drive there. Oh, and make sure your horn works because everybody lays on the horn. The intersections are horrendous--the stop lights mostly don't work and that is where the game of chicken comes in big time.

I don't think the country roads are any safer, though less crowded. You know how we complain about traffic laws (and building codes for that matter). Go to a place like the DR and you know why such things are in place.

Keep the bike in the USA. We want you to stay healthy longer. I'm just sayin'...

You're absolutely correct, traffic laws there "be more like guidlines" But hey,I've got connections.

And I'd leave the bikes here. My family should be able to hook me up with a bike if I want one

I got Deedee's carbs back together last Sunday. That little bike is zippy! She's really wanting to get back out there. I can't wait for dry weather.
