geez second near death of the year

I guess im not having a good start to the year. Today while riding along i went over a railroad track and my front fender somehow found its way on the wrong side of my highway bar, preventing me from being able to turn the bike. im running out of shorts to ruin! i assume this bar was not designed for used with the gk's larger fender so with extreme prejudice me and the sawzall removed the highway bar. why did i cut it off? 2 reasons 1 without it i would have had to remove the exhaust to remove the bar and 2 because well the thing almost killed me so i wanted to kill it. updated pictures sans highway bar to come but here it is with it if you look it was a little to close anyways

Damn, those bars are supposed to go around the engine, not the front wheel.
    You got lucky this time.

Yikes, good that you didnt have a worse outcome.

GK fenders are larger (than G), but are only wider, so I suspect not really a factor in problem with the highway bars.
THose bars usally mount to a point on the frame just under the engine, and so not mounted that far forward.

Good that you took care of it so not a problem.

I hate that style of bars. I prefer the smaller case saver type.

Not the best picture for showning what I'm talking about. These are the type I prefer.

Problem is that bar was never made to fit your bike. Someone did a poor mod to make it fit !!!I have one on my 850. Bottom bar should be 1-1.5 inches from the exhaust pipe
