Master link clip on?

I have use the clip on master link on all my chains, never have lost one, though I do put a dab of silicone on the clip.

What material wire and size do you use to wire the clip link on with?

Real safety wire, medium size, can't remember the actual size.
Probably the size isn't all that critical.

I use a blob of red RTV under the clip too.
