    Suzi to hospital

    Suzi may go via ambulance (flatbed) to the rehab clinic (mechanic) tomorrow AM.

    After the accident damage (right engine cover, foot peg, brake pedal, turn signals, headlight glass and trim), I'll go for valve check/adjust, oil & filter, spark plugs/tune up, 140 mph speedo.

    The SS brake lines and rear suspension upgrade may have to wait another season or few months.

    Anything I'm forgetting? She's got new tires, fork seals and springs, sprockets and chain.

    Go ahead. Be brutal.

    Did she get the new tires before or after the accident?

    Why don't you fix the damage yourself? It sounds like standard from being dumped on her side i.e. no collision so no potential frame damage.

    Post some photos so we can see.

      Rob, with your hands messed up, please make certain to clean them with some hydrogen peroxide, blot dry and apply liberal amounts of triple antibiotic ointment to help speed the healing of those wounds.

        he mentioned before that his front fender was bent....well it is plastic so if it looks bent then the forks are twisted in the clamps or bent.
        look at the fork stop area and see if there is impact to the frame area where the fork stop made hard contact.
        i have even seen the lower triple (aluminum) fork stop broken off in the past when the bike went down at full steering lock.
        many things to check and i bet a shop will charge 700.00 and up for new parts/used parts/labor...i bet it close to a grand... maybe more.
        it is what it is.

            Actually, bandages came off both hands today - I'm going to try riding a (ten speed) bike tomorrow.

            I'll tell you what would make me hard - seeing Suzi back home, all fixed up and with her 140-mph speedo (thanks Rapidray) installed.

            In the early 1980's, I was riding a '73 Z1. I came to a party, and somebody introduced me to Hank, who was sitting on the couch. "Hank's got a bike just like yours (KZ900)."

            Hank didn't stand up. His right leg below the knee was missing. Seems Hank and his KZ had a little tussle with a van, and Hank lost (his leg).

            The way I see it, any spill that leaves you with two working legs is a good thing.

            I plan on spending a lot more time cleaning her and learning to wrench on her.

            I know riding's the thing, but just having her home and in running order would mean a lot to me now.

              Rod, I'd say take your motorcycle to the shop that did your header and carburetor jetting. Tell them you want a evaluation/estimate of damage done.... By the time your healed, your motorcycle will be healed. Hopefully by spring time, you'll be back on two wheels. It is obvious you love your motorcycle so price is no big deal. Good luck Rob. You take it easy.

                Rob, if your forks and TT's are messed up, I have a few sets around here that I could let go for pretty close to what the shipping would cost to get them to you from here
                if blowerbike and several of the many, many East coast GSers can't get some to you at a good price.
