My zinc parts go missing

Yeah that's what I asked them to do. I even offered to go there for the day and help go through their records and ring customers up. They declined my offer but said they had gone through their records 3 weeks before and 3 weeks after I dropped my parts off. Problem is with the company not describing the parts very well when they arrive. They had taken a picture of my parts that I was having chromed (got them back) but just took a picture of the box with all my bits and pieces in to be zinc plated. These small orders are cash in the hand compared to the other large scale business operations they run. Also zinc plating is a fairly simple and cheap process compared to their other processes such as chrome and gold plating. -
Guest repliedDoesn't the company have a customer list ? All you would have to do is contact the customers within a cerain time frame and ask who has the wrong order...A.Leave a comment:

How annoying, maybe relist it as a classified ad and contact seller number?Leave a comment:

Put an add on ebay for information sought on my missing parts with photos of the parts I have. Listed it for $1. Someone bought my ad for $1. I cant win, I think I did the wrong thing, more stress...........

Thanks for the ideas. Still no luck or any info on my missing parts. Beginning to build a parts list of new and used parts as well.
Did think of ebay and just put an add on. Also had placed an advertisement on GUMTREE similar to Craigslist in the US. Already have offers on people wanting to purchase the parts. Anyway still waiting with anticipation WHERE THE BLOODY HELL ARE MY PARTS............

Might be worth sticking a carefully worded ad on EBay. If it's like it is over here, the chances are the real owner of the parts might be regularly searching for bits for his bike.Leave a comment:

I was going to post up that they look like early XT500 bits, the funny brake link is quite distinctive, I'm sure someone will one day turn up asking for his bits back as his bike is useless without those parts.Leave a comment:

Yes I did pay for the plating and the company has offered me compensation if my parts are not located, they seem to be on side.
Latest update - After posting on as many forums I could, info came back as parts belonging to 1980 Yamaha XT500.
Now info is going out on as many Yamaha and XT500 forums I can find to locate the owner.
Maybe getting a little bit closer to my parts. Sucks having both bikes sitting and not being able to move them.Leave a comment:

Yeah its so frustrating, still no word on my parts. Electroplating business goes on Chrissy holidays next Tuesday until Jan 18 next year. I don't want to start buying new parts or second hand parts yet because I am still hoping someone will find my parts or realise their parts are missing. Plating business said they would help with some of the costs. I will wait until end of January and if have not heard anymore will start replacing missing parts off the two bikes. If I can find out what brand and model the above parts are from I then might have to try and sell them to recoup some of the costs as well. But then again don't want the owner looking for them in 6 months time when he realise the mistake. Oh well I just hate waiting, but not more I can do.Leave a comment:

Guest repliedTo me those look like motorcycle parts with drum brakes.
Odd mixup......Leave a comment:

Guest repliedOuch. That's the equivalent of getting your bike creamed in a parking lot while you're in the store...
And those parts look so good, too. Well, whoever the other guy is, let's hope he has the same problem with YOUR parts. Let us know if you are reunited with your stuff.Leave a comment:

My zinc parts go missing
Hi, been away for awhile. Early November thought I would remove some hardware off the 2 GS's and get them zinc plated. Rear axle, front axel, foot pegs front and rear, engine bolts and nuts, seat pins and a heap of other stuff. Took them in a box and left them with Gold Coast Electroplating. Have used this company once before and was very happy with the results. This time when I went to collect the box all my parts were missing and the below pictured parts were there instead. Owner was advised and had no idea how the parts were mixed up. He said all the orders have been collected and no one else were missing any parts. He further stated that they cannot remember zinc plating any other motorcycle parts. My mistake was that I did not take any parts also the company only took a pic of the box my parts came in. I am hoping that my parts have been collected by someone other than the owner who may be away working or on holidays. So both bikes are in pieces and unrideable. Anyone recognize the below parts and what bike they come off. Would be at least a chain drive and drum brakes. Regards
