Bellingham to Boise ADV style on an 850..

A fiend/sometimes bike mechanic made this a couple years ago.... '83 850, mostly backroads. Trip involved changing out the rear hub and transmission while camping out in the boonies!

Cool stuff, fun to watch the gauges start dancing and stop working. The 850G has to be the Caprice Classic of motorcycles.

^ It is. A really good video. Thanks!
...I'm impressed with those roads too. prairie gravel...Very very similar places to where I want to get ..so his tires are interesting. Looks like a metzler on the front and ...maybe a "Trailwing?" on the back?

I don't recall the brands; I know he started with older tires and kept picking up free/cheap ones at bike salvage yards. He had extras strapped on the tail!

Matt is a good guy. I've known him for 35 years and he's helped me many times with my GS's.
He also has the coolest shop logo, with Eddie Lawson looking over his back after probably winning a 500cc race.
I've been trying to get him to make more Performance Labs shirts to no avail.
            GS\'s since 1982: 55OMZ, 550ES, 750ET, (2) 1100ET\'s, 1100S, 1150ES. Current ride is an 83 Katana. Wifes bike is an 84 GS 1150ES

These are the kind of adventures I want to take all summer on my 83 GS850G!!! I try to take dirt roads as much as possible. I had a Kenda k761 on my read this summer and it worked great! Next year I'll have a matching set of trail wings.

I've hear over and over that those trail wings are "death wings". I'd look for a better tire. Cool video, thanks for posting.
