    First long trip

Back in 1973 I was in the Air Force in Charleston South Carolina, had literally just bought a 73 red/white GT250 Suzuki a few days before and took it to the metal shop on base where my fellow buddy airman built me a perfectly proportioned luggage rack, black dipped and baked it,loaded up with a small tent, sleeping bag and clothes to head to the just opened Walt Disney World in Florida. Only a couple hundred miles on it I hit the interstate which was direct to Orlando. Little 250 ran flawlessly cruising at 60,45mpg. Got there and checked into the on grounds campsite, rolled out my tent, sleeping bag and clothes, mid 90s with 80% humidity. Spent two days going through Disneyworld,no Epcot, then packed up and headed back to the base.Great trip,no troubles. I have a beautiful 83 GS 1100 E now but I often think about that GT250,my first ever motorcycle and wish I had never sold it.

One time I rode from Reno, NV to the western shore of Lake Huron on a stripped down shovelhead with a small solo seat. Only stopped for gas, food and one overnight in Nebraska to get some sleep, it was beyond an Iron Butt ride for sure. Oh to be 24 again!

I?m in my mid sixties started riding in 72 on a new OSSA pioneer, next year got a new 73GT250,have almost 100k riding all that I have and had. Even now on a ride I feel the same youthful exhilaration as I did kicking over that OSSA for the first time. I will never feel old.
