Was this pic from this year? If so it looks like nobody has moved since I last came!!

Glad you all had fun.. looked at least up to the usual standard! No Nardy in sight without me to ride his spare bike for him it seems...

Kinda took the long way to show up at the rally, but 11,249 miles later I am home. Only hit light rain a couple of times so I went straight from Bedford to Pittsburgh in one shot. It was really great meeting you all,and was one of the highlights of my trip.Could not have been a nicer group of guys, and Mrs. Steve and Jay and family were amazing. Currently heading to post office to mail back my souvenir room key that I accidentally 'borrowed'. Whoops ,sorry Jay! Hoping to see you all next year!!!

Some of my ride photo Friday.
Headed out 450. then gonna go around to 58 and tulip trstle, ScottCowboy gonna then head north to some waterfall, and we gonna go around and over to 45 and 135 and not sure what all else Justin had routed out.

    Stopped at Williams bridge.

Jay RedmanSIL getting a different view of the river.

I requested a pic "to send to family back home" and for myself.

At the end of 450 near Shoals, Jay exclaiming about the ride so far. The curves, the up and down elevation, the blind curves, the old barns, the scenery, the water right next to the road, the railroad trestles, the road following the lay of the land, the water over the road. Maybe he was just mocking me, but I think he was truly excited.
    Headed north (northwest?) from there.
I noticed onboard voltmeter in fairing showing lower voltage. Then later not charging at all.
Got them to pull over, told then I wasnt charging, and was heading back to motel, they could go on.
I headed back on 50, gps said 27 miles to motel. Was thinking of stopping to pull headlight fuse, but it started to charge some, , so kept going, then Scott catches up to me to escort or be available if needed. SOmetimes was 12.2 sometimes 11.8, mostly about 12.0 so did make it back to motel.

Did some troubleshooting, meter giving strange readings. 9v battery was about dead (the ol' tongue test), so walked to store for a a new 9v battery and some lunch to keep in room refirdg. Walked back and continued the testing, stator open circuit voltage test 50-40-0 vac. Bad.
I had a spare stator and some small wire nuts.
Am thinking I have some wrenches but the stator mounting screws usally need an impact driver.
Hey, Steve shows up, with multiple tool kits, including impact driver and spare bullet connectors and crimper.

GOt the stator cover loose without much difficulty using Steves socket set and impact driver. Gasket was pretty much staying on the engine, and was able to work it off the cover without any ripps.

A little crispy. (That stator is the one provided by Brett and installed by Brett and Brian at Brian's garage in Indy on my way home from BC 2016. I then got a stator to replenish Bretts supply, and a other stator as a spare for me to have. ANd I got a SH775 R/R but never got a wiring harness and never installed it. So I am embarrassed that this failure is kinda my fault (no punn intended) from my lack of maintenance/upgrades.)
(but at least I have been bringing the spare stator to rallys each year since, including last year when I rode the BMW RT. Was one of the things that dumped out on the interstate that I did find.)

Went out for late lunch with Steve and Bonita and John and Brett.
and got some gasket nonhardening sealant on way back.

GOt it back together. Fired it up, good charging volts. Was confident that problem solved, and was raining, and I was still tired from long ride yesterday, so didnt go for test ride.

Pizza Slaughter for dinner was good. Six pizzas and three big bowls of salad went quick, all for only $5 per person since Jay Motel Manager worked some group discount with pizza place that remembered us from previous years.

Stayed up way too late that night (again) chatting in parking lot.

    My Ride pics.
Thurday, ready for 745am departure. Trunk and side bags stuffed.

Rode about 25 miles to Meet up with Justin Redmanson (Tiger 1050) and Jay RedmanSIL (FJR1300ES). We live only 25 & 35 & 40 miles apart.
I am really glad and thankfull that we could do this. Justin had to take a couple vacation days. Jay had to rearrange his Navy Reserve duty and work schedule. I had to just annoy wife by being gone.

Justin is a weird kinda guy that wanted us to line up for a photo.

Then for the 300 miles to Bedford (5+ hours)
Mr Justin is a GPS route planning fanatic, and had route planned to "stop by" some Tour Of Honor sites, an online riding/photo contest (more weirdness, eh).
After about 7 hours, and still 2 hours away, we had a discussion, and said "lets just get there".

Stephan & Steve Steve working in dark to swap out tach cable and a tach.

Me and Steve investigating source of horrible clatter that developed about 10 miles after changing out the stator. (may post more of story about that elsewhere). So stator cover off again.

Did miss chatting with you. Hey, so you are better now, just in time for the hottest most humid days of summer (as was some of the recent years rally).

One of those rare times when Dale and I got to the hotel and said, "yeah, that's... that's enough riding for one day."
I hadn't known that was possible. I would have only conceded the possibility.

Ah, it was good seeing everyone again and meeting new people.

I hope Mary makes it back again. Happy for, you, Rodney.

So many interesting conversations. I haven't processed them all yet. Someday, I WILL get Brett to watch some anime. He'd love Girls und Panzer.
