The latest on the forum

After another day of hacking on the forum databases I have finally made some progress in getting it straightened out. The internals are mostly set and the lingering issue is with search. As of now searches for old posts won't work because I had to clear out the search index and I have a bug when tried to repopulate it. This means that searches for words on old topics won't work until me and vBulletin get it figured out.

So the majors changes should make it where the database runs a bit faster and we have better support for international languages. So keep and eye out for scrambled letters in posts and topic titles. If you see something goofy then let me know.

Items that I've seen so far

1. The icons that appear when posting aren't there
2. Clicking on Messages works real slow. I'll have to let vBulletin know. Feels like a database issue.
3. I haven't been able to reload the search index because errors. This breaks the ability to search the forums.

For today's report I can say that the icons are back and the search index repopulated. At this point the only thing I see is the Message Center (PM's) acting up. If you are also experiencing PM issues then let me know by replying here. At this point I don't know if this problem is affecting only my account or everyone.

For the latest update, I believe that I have the PM system working. All I can say is vBulletin needs to fix some of their code.

The bottom line in all this is the forum should run a bit quicker, we should handle international forum users better and we shouldn't be blowing up the server by eating up all the diskspace.

NOTE: vBulletin just released another update tonight so I'll install that one tomorrow.

Today's update is the addition of the BOTM channel to the forum.

I will upgrading the forum software later this afternoon to the latest version.
