The GSResources Due For Update Before Abandonment?

I think this site needs to update in title and forums to include Suzuki GS descendants: GSX, GSF, GSXF and GSXR, maybe more.
Smaller note; expunging some vortex trolls.

We[[, possibly worth a discussion. We already have 2 forums, "Other questions" or "Other projects" for those other bikes. The other bikes mentioned, I think, all have sites for those particular bikes. There's even a site for my GSX1100G, that was just one bike and only made 3 yrs. If I need Bandit, ZRX, CB1100F info I just go to those sites. Also seems Vortex is working as designed, for controversy, different opinions, and arguing, seems that what I see there. If I'm not in the mood, I just don't click on the thread... Not say'in I'd be against your idea, but for me, I've not seen the need.

I've been far happier with the site since I had restriction to Vortex added to my account. I used to find one in 50 that were interesting on there, otherwise it just gets in the way...

Me too, Dan. Had access to vortex for a few days. I asked Don to remove it. I don’t need all that negativity in my life.

Help me out here you two. Is it like putting a lock on the fridge, so you don't snack at night, or what?
Sometimes the Vortex is fun and enlightening, (I often learn interesting things), sometimes I'm not interested.
And when I am not interested, I just don't open the threads.
Usually clicking on "new topics" only has a couple Vortex threads. So why the forced lockout.
And don't misunderstand, it's all cool with me how you handle it. I am just trying to understand why.

I don't want anything to do with the Vortex whining, and "new topics" pumps through the thread title. Even that's too much for me. No thanks.

For me, in my brief visit, I was reading comments from people directed at other people, some whom I know did not visit the vortex. Comments that were less fun and entertaining, more just mean and uncivil. A lot of that. And a lot of political bashing, and that being pretty one sided. A lot of keyboard warrioring. There probably are a lot of great conversations in there. I guess I’ll never know. Anyway, that’s how I saw it. You can have it. I don’t want it. Yeah, it’s a bit like putting blinders on. So be it. I like you all a whole lot more out here.

I don't really like the spirit of the Vortex, as Rich said it's a bit mean, a lot of dumb & I don't need the added distraction. With limited time I'd rather spend it looking at GS stuff and trying to help people here.
Maybe it's changed because I had it blocked quite a few years ago but back then it seemed it was about every other thread was Vortex, the GS stuff was getting lost.
I do agree once in a while I found a nugget there but I feel like most of the nuggets could be found without all the bickering and BS.

Regardless the site is definitely shrinking, that's the Facebook affect primarily I think as well as perhaps a shrinking pool of bikes & an aging population - a shame as Facebook is such an awful medium for what works so well here. I don't really go there either,a lot of people who feel the need to comment but have nothing to say or nothing that's correct /constructive as well as a lot of bad advice & stuff that's just plain wrong...

Thanks all of you for taking the time to answer....And I get it. Thank you.

Dan, all forums are shrinking. I belong to a bunch, but it is not like the old days.
As you said, social media is taking over, and it is very inferior to a good, searchable forum.

Agree with all of that. Facebook does get engagement, but only about 10% of responses are actually worth anything. And not searchable like this. Facebook growth is actually declining as well.

With forums shrinking, I don't think expunging members for the sake of expunging is a great idea. Unless they truly have nothing to offer the community.

I would enjoy seeing more about the Bandits. I've been looking at them for sale on Facebook Marketplace. But if I'm really looking to add another Suzuki to my garage, probably an 1100E or a Katana.

Many. Forums thrive without off-topic sections. Most I've seen have none as they are a nasty waste of bandwidth contributing sfa to the subject of the forum. thus a drain on resources.

What I see is GSR will be around as long as there's money coming in to keep it alive.
Once the funds stop coming in, it will dissolve.
I've amped up my donations the last couple of years. I enjoy GSR and the GSR family of friends.
