If you could tell us the VIN / chassis # that would narrow it down.
    Current:
Z1300A5 Locomotive (swapped my Intruder for it), GS450 Cafe Project (might never finish it....), XT500 Commuter (I know - it's a Yamaha )

    Past:
    VL1500 Intruder (swapped for Z1300), ZX9R Streetfighter (lets face it - too fast....), 1984 GSX750EF, 1984 GSX1100EF (AKA GS1150)
And a bunch of other crap Yamahas....

Actually, just looking at the clutch cover that's not a 1000 motor - looks like a 750.....or even a 650.

The kick starter eliminates 650 and 1000. Pre 1980

The wire wheels and VM carbs eliminate the 650, too.

                  4 cylinder GS's with kick start: 550, 850, & 750. Cross off 850 since it's shaft drive.

I'd say a 79' GS750, possibly a 78' 750. It's one or the other, and of course it has a few pieces on it from other models.

Yes, plenty of people would rebore the 750's to try and get them up to 850 or so. Lots would put an 850 head on the 750 bottom end as well. Maybe you have some Yoshi parts in there?

No one is going to ask about the numbers stamped into the block?

I will. Look at the block, there should be a small flat pad on one side with a series of numbers. Post the first 6 or so and we can at least tell you what it started as.
