Exactly! The Vortex should NOT be the norm. It's pretty much a skum pitt 90% of the time so why subject people to the skurge unless actively clicking on it?Ed

I'd vote to leave it out of the "What's New" feed too. Sure I ignore the posts now, but I'd rather not have to see the contents of the scum pit while looking through more useful things.Dogma

How to get a "What's New" feed without the Vortex, and without permanently quitting the VortexComment

Like I said before. I don't care that much but I don't see how seeing a few posts that you don't want to open is a problem. You're not being subjected to anything more than a list of choices you can choose to open or not. The list of new posts is a list of all the topics on the forum as posted by time............Comment

Scum pit is right.
Yes, we don't have to click but it's depressing to see all the garbage being posted day after day by the same people again and again.Ed

Thank you for the upgraded opinion....I will sleep better tonight knowing you no longer think I am "kind of dumb".
On the other hand, I always thought you were kind of smart, until you said you needed protection to avoid a Vortex post....Bob T. ~~ Play the GSR weekly photo game: Pic of Week Game

Get it right: I don't need "protection". I'm just sick of being forced to look through all the garbage posts about muslims, Obama, and Trump everytime I check the New Posts feed looking for MOTORCYCLE posts. Is that so hard to understand? Posts about motorcycles on a motorcycle forum?Ed

Well if it's the same people put the lot of us on ignore. Bob's your uncle problem solved. I can give you my personal guarantee that you won't miss anything earth shattering ignoring me. I could make it easy for you and saw off my exhaust but I like my hearing so that ain't going to happen.............Comment

I agree with Nessism. I rarely log in, mostly I just lurk and read but when I do log in the inevitable "new post" feed is filled with quite an assortment of Vortex posts. I honestly don't know what the benefit of most of the subject matter is but to each his own I guess.Comment

That doesn't happen.I have to say wading though the Vortex drivel every morning is getting tiresome. Why do you guys need to package the same BS in so many different threads?Well if it's the same people put the lot of us on ignore. Have to vote with Ed on this.
I'm looking for something interesting, something new, but half the posts are vortex crap. As stated it's always the same closed group of people, bickering and politely exchanging insults. Maybe 6 people. Find a life someplace else.1982 GS1100G-

Why should those who engage in verbal jousting in an optional place in an interweb forum need to go to some other optional place in an interweb forum to engage in verbal jousting? The site was created by people who enjoy motorcycles, primarily of the Suzuki marque, but people in any public place will discuss all manner of things, and this oddball assemblage of characters is not easily replicated elsewhere."Thought he, it is a wicked world in all meridians; I'll die a pagan."

I clicked on "new posts" just now, there are 25 on the first page. Of that, 6 were in the Vortex. So it is not most or all, and honestly, the number is probably inflated due to the election. Seems like a pretty trivial thing to worry about, but maybe it is just me. Maybe I have real problems to worry about.

There has been talk in the past about getting rid of the Vortex all together but I'm not advocating that. I just think it need to be isolated a little further from the motorcycle site proper.
Just this morning, 9 hours or so since checking last night, 7 of the top 12 threads in the New Posts feed are Vortex. And this sort of feed is commonplace.Ed
