    Interesting Day Here Weatherwise

We had an F2 tornado go through town this morning. I went to look around on the GZ250. I don't think it was too bad. Mostly trees and wires down. I saw some houses and barns with missing roofing. As far as I know the weather guys were pretty surprised. There was effectively no warning until it was actually happening.

I didn't want to get in the way of emergency crews so all I did was walk up a land road and take some pictures.

There were a lot of green apples strewn about and the corn was all bent over. My sister said it looks like a UFO landed.

Weather? You like weather? Imagine being on a bike when you run into hail like this!this picture doesn't do it justice. If you can get to this link, it's pretty scary about halfway through where Gibran's video is...https://edmonton.ctvnews.ca/it-sound...hway-1.6011740

Years ago my wife and I got caught in a hail storm. Nothing like that video but we were on a bike. Luckily there are lots of creeks around here so we found a small bridge to hide under.

What would you do if caught in a storm like that with nowhere to hide? Maybe turn around and try to outrun it?

Yes, my thoughts exactly..I think .if possible turn around and run or at least stop before going into the dark place ahead and see where the thing in the sky is heading...coffee time! On the prairie, the clouds are a clue so if I find I'm driving towards the dark place, I hope I'll remember this and not just blithely carry on.

PS these days you can get internet in lots of places so going to windy.com would be an idea-they have links to local radars in the menu. They have an app too but it's not needed if your phone's browser can open a normal page.

Good point. As motorcyclists I think we tend to be more in tune with the environment. I'm always checking the sky before and during rides. Nowadays the tech we have really helps.

I still get a slap upside the helmet from my wife occasionally though when I tell her that I promise the radar says it won't rain.

Took a ride up 78 last Sunday to see damage. Interesting that it hops around. A lot of damage near East Arcade Rd was already being cleaned up.

The pictures I took are from poplar tree rd just north of 78. I rode east from there. I haven't been down the other way yet but I hear an old barn got knocked over. The NWS said the tornado weakened gradually as it traveled east from F2 to F0.
