H D I reduce the size of my photos

So I have a ton of pictures that I would like to share, but they all exceed the 2 meg limit. Is it possible to reduce the file size

It is but it's probably easier to upload to Flickr & then link to them....

This is likely the easiest way: https://www.adobe.com/express/featur...8215&mv=search

At least Adobe is a trusted source but there is probably still some small print that says you agree to give them access to your photos for free or something!

No need to resize images. Set up a free Imgur or Flickr account, copy the BBCode and paste it here.

Depending on the email program you use you could email them to yourself and select to reduce the size when sending. Choosing a hosting site like mentioned would probably be the best way in the long run though.

Gustovh, for simple resizing you can use Irfanview. It's free, easy to use, and can do batch resizing.

"Visualizer Photo Resize" is a good freeware software. Can load up a file with a many pics as you like, set the resize/watermark and any other thing you want to do and it will convert them while you do other things. I use Irfan-view when doing a single or a couple of resizes. Simple and very basic

Visualizer Photo Resize, free download for Windows. Tool that resizes images in batch with options for custom dimensions and quality adjustments.

Another thumbs up for Ifranview. I use it to copy my photos to an under 1mb image and then upload them to a personal website for linking from here.

Get this program, you can even do batch compressions with it, crop, re-size, too many things to list. I've been using it for over 15 years. It's completely FREE and the forum I run deals with pictures a lot.

Vince, some of the guys have given you great tools for resizing photos.

In my personal opinion, if all you want to do is store and share photos, all of that resizing stuff is really not necessary. Since I've been on the forum, I've only bothered to resize a picture one time, and that was last week when I submitted pics for BOTM, because there were strict pixel dimension and file size limitations.

Otherwise, I upload pics from my phone or from my computer (because I've downloaded pics to there from my Nikon) to my Imgur account. Imgur stores the photos, for free. I'm not betting on that lasting forever, but it's been great for the nearly 5 years that I've been posting pictures on this forum.

Imgur, or Flickr both allow you to select the size you want when you grab the BBCode and copy it. I go with whatever looks best on the screen depending on the image. Not once have I ever bothered to think about the actual pixel dimensions nor file size.

XNViewMP is made for people who just want to get the job done. You bring the picture up on your screen, press the "PRT SCN" button. Open XNView and click under "File", "Import Clipboard". Your picture will appear. From that point you can do whatever you want to do to it, and just save it with a different name, your original picture remains the same. Al the Metadata is removed, you can crop, resize the pic, they have a huge list of sizes, you click on the "Resize" selection you have decided on, you will see the picture shrink, then, under file, just click "save as" (It gives you a lot of options, default is jpeg), chose a different name so you don't lose your original, and your done. takes about 2 minutes for the whole procedure once you learn it, maybe even less. and it is FREE!! You won't believe how big you can save a picture, and how small it is in kb's. You can also easily make the canvas smaller too. It's a very powerful program. I used it for 15 years. This is a paper model I designed and put together using XNViewMP and another program. The paper Viper from Battlestar Galactica model is about a foot long, the background is a scene I grabbed off of the internet.

Windows comes with a "photos" program that will resize. That's what I use.

If i am doing a bulk resize, Visualizer is the most simple one to use. Click resize and leave it and come back to it later.

Put all the pics, you want to post, into a folder then go about the process in this pic i made up.

The folder icon, below the Path folder icon, this is the name, (can change it to whatever), of the folder where the resized photo go. This is a sub folder that is placed, in the folder, (by the program), next to the pics you have chosen to resize

                          Clipboard.jpg

The beauty about this is it's simplicity, click and leave. Most editing programs have a resize but on the 3 I use i have to manually do 1 photo at a time.
