Let me see now .... The title of the thread is " The end is near " because of a California law ..... And then you go on to tell us all the ways you are stocking up before it comes into effect ..... if you can't identify politics when you are doing it yourself ..... Then you are hopeless ......

The title of this thread alone, makes it vortex material. Give me a break.

I will say this. We bought our electric mower 8 years ago, and it was one of the best buys I ever made.
The thing is just a good as my old gas mower. Doesn't need a carb clean, new plug, oil change, or air filter...ever.
Don't have to go buy gas.
        And it's quiet.

I have no understanding of the reasoning behind not wanting one.
Pretty stupid discussion, if you ask me.

Having choices in life is good. We can select products based on our sensibilities.

Regarding ICE vs. battery, the 2025 projection is for 75% of all vehicles sold in the US to be ICE. EV projected at 10%, hybrid at 15%. People have the option of going EV, but clearly, most people don't want them. Same for me with an electric lawn mower. My past experience with electric tools is fine, but there are always battery problems down the line. So, my choice is to stay ICE. You are free to choose otherwise.

With ethanol in all gas now, I'm now putting fuel stabilizer in my jerry cans for my lawnmower and power washer....electric makes good sense.

Now that we don't have an acreage to maintain if our 25 year old mower ever dies it will be replaced with electric, same with our trimmer and as for the chain saw (sold the big one and just have the smaller one now) we've hardly used it since we moved 7 years ago but I do purge the gas and run it once year. Unfortunately the damn mower just keeps running though .....some things I wish would just quit. LOL.

At my age I was finding it difficult to pull the rope fast enough to get my gas mower going.
Bought a battery powered mower a few years ago. Discovered all the points you mentioned above.

And I can add two more advantages: It always starts.
And it is supposed to run for 50 minutes, but I can only last 45 minutes when I NEED to take a break!

An electric drill can start an ICE pretty easily. So much torque. Some Norton guys spend huge $ on converting to an electric start as they are old duffers and knees are fragile. I think hmm, drill a hole in the primary cover, throw a Makita in a backpack or whatever (rack, bungee like the old days), and drill, baby drill! You all must be crazy to put your faith in knees. That's why I love mankind.

Have you ever shown us a "start up procedure" video of the Norton? As much as I was too insecure to show up on anything less than my 11E (Sportster sometimes, 903 Z1 in the '80's), I'd be confident enough on that Norton to roll up on any group of Harleys or Jap super bikes.

With my gimpy knees, I'm afraid to kick over any old bike to life. It sucks getting old. If a remote motor works, I'm all for it!

No, I took a video of my son starting it a while back, he got it going after 3 or so but has improved. I won't embarrass him by posting it. Still not as good as me but I've got 70 more lbs and 40 more years of experience. When hot it's one kick, no throttle every time. When the engine's cold but it's warm out, I kick it once with the key off and the Mikuni enrichening lever down (on), then key on, the enrichening lever in off position (up) and it starts most of the time on that 2nd kick. Yesterday I took compression readings, Got 169 left and 158 right. Good for a 7.5:1 dished piston. Right now I'm waiting for a new throttle cable, a place makes them custom for Brit bike Mikuni conversions for $22. Has the correct ends for the Mikuni VM and Amal throttle. Mine was frayed and the revs hung on me the other day, not good.

Nothing has changed. I've been gone for the most part for eight years, checked in a little bit during Covid and saw the same thing as four years before.

Same stink from the same sources, wafting down from the northwest.

Sure did. I married a daughter off, became a gandfather twice, and almost died twice in a two week period. One of those incidents resulted in a clinically-dead NDE (Near Death Experience).

And managed to accumulate three more bikes in the proccess.

Now if time would slow down so I could get them all restored to where I want them to be...
