Strong sun activity to create Northern Lights

Looks like there's a good chance that much of the US will get a chance to see the Northern Lights tonight. So far there have been six coronal mass elections sending plasma in our direction triggering the first solar storm warning issued since the mid 2000's. Possibilities of power and communication disruptions are coming along with it so be sure to stock up on toilet paper!

The Space Weather Prediction Center has issued its first "severe geomagnetic storm watch" since 2005. Auroras might be seen as far south as Alabama.

Several really good pictures have been posted here tonight (West Kentucky). I understand the light show is visible as far South as Alabama and Texas tonight.

2001 KLR650 too pretty to get dirty

Life is a balancing act, enjoy every day, "later" will come sooner than you think. Denying yourself joy now betting you will have health and money to enjoy life later is a bad bet.

A buddy of mine was able to see them from his front yard in Detroit! We had a pretty solid deck of low clouds here just east of Indianapolis, I gave up at about 11.

20240510_224531.jpgThe phone camera really shows the colors. I saw the Aurora back in the 60s. It was really strong then . Might have been what caused the big NE black out. I remember it looked like curtains blowing around an open window. Last night was more subtle but colorful.
