Ha! Best review I read on the Yugo said "This car has the distinct feeling of something that was built at gunpoint......"

Life is a balancing act, enjoy every day, "later" will come sooner than you think. Denying yourself joy now betting you will have health and money to enjoy life later is a bad bet.

the minimalism of this truck is obviously awesome and a long-overdue concession to the small truck guys but I would spend 1/4 of the money on an old diesel pickup rabbit and beef up the suspension and it will outlast amazon/bezos itself. ~50 mpg but it will also only go 50 mph... but hey if you wanna go fast you should be on a bike.

of course theres also the old toyota land cruiser pickup that I have not yet seen in the USA... Absolutely stunning vehicle but having driven one it could use some power steering.

The VW Vortex has some interesting tuning for the old smoky coal burners. That ancient wheezing 1500cc diesel can produce some amazing power for its size without blowing up too much.
Reason I took an interest is that somewhere along the way I picked up a pair of those lumps and an Eaton M45 supercharger...

VW Vortex is great. My son has owned
many VW’s. Here is one he bought and sold
on BAT, it certainly had mods!

Those old VW Rabbit Diesel pickups where a bit of a "cult car" amongst the Northern Michigan hippies, luckily the Subaru AWD station wagon came along to replace it.

                  The Yugo...
A guy in town had a "tricked out" Yugo with every gadget available...
When you got near the car it would say "Stand away from the vehicle, Stand away from the vehicle"...

For kicks, about four of us could pick up the rear end of the car and move it sideways in the parking spot.
Oh, to be a teenager again.

My cousin went through a yugo kick about 20 years ago, one time he had four of them.
One was painted like the Starsky and Hutch torino. At first he got into them because he found a cheap one and then one parts car, than another.

He had the most problems with the starsky and Hutch yugo , it was his favorite because it had a nice paint job and was in the best condition visually, but he had problems with the computer.

He took it to a shop and they did a bunch of work to it, they put in a refurbished computer?

Month later it was acting up just like before, he swapped the computer for the one in the white parts yugo, it ran fine for a month and started acting up, so he put the refurbished computer ? Ecm ? back in and it ran fine for a month.

So he just keeper one extra computer ecm, whatever it was in the car and just swapped them over as needed.

Crazy, he got rid of all of them and went on a Ford ranger pickup kick, he had about four of them as well.

I was looking at these the other day. I don't see why it wouldn't work. The trick is they need to trendy as well as cheap.... I suspect a lot of kids (and me) would rather drive one of these than a Chevy Bolt...

The Maverick has been incredibly popular... I don't see why this wouldn't fly if they get it right. https://www.ford.com/trucks/maverick/2025/

Rather than worry about the plastic panels I see it as an opportunity for someone like RTECH to come in (they do replacement kits for the Tenere and others) and offer aftermarket panels....
