    Craigslist derelict, 1K & as usual 'no title' - 78 GS1000E

Only needs to be 'ensambled'. Says it has tank, fender, nice seat but doesn't provide pics (sheesh).

Somewhere there is a huge pile of old titles that mysteriously vanished into thin air over the years. I mean that's the only explanation, right?

Amazing what we see out there. Just a thought for seller, If $150 will get it registered, "YOU" get it registered then up the asking price by $150. Thinking many folks see a bike without a title, just a bunch of bike parts... Possibly could be an OK deal as if the tank turned out to be good, the tank itself would probably bring half the asking price, but thinking it'd be quite hard to take that big of a gamble

They won't lift a finger, that's my experience. I did ask for pics of the other stuff but that may be too much effort too.

        So it's 'un-sambled'? $1k or best offer?

Here's my offer: give me $150, and I'll clean out your garage.

You can’t get it titled/registered without taking it there if it’s out of the system as they have to look at the VIN etc numbers so that part makes sense at least…

This is nothing. There are guys asking $10k for a "custom" bobber or cafe.

It doesn't look bad, if he sends me some pics, I may be tempted. It's an all-day haul out to the high desert and back, then the paperwork - I'd check on the DMV site with the VIN first to verify back fees.

At least the seat and other rubbers might not be sun-rotted if they've been unsembled in a shed out of the heat.

                  Craigslist and Facebook listing ?

Kind of the subject of one of my introductory post, people were either wanting crazy high prices for chopped up bikes or inherited uncle's old suzuki that been in a shed for thirty years with no title.
And many like to post how easy it is to get a title, why don't they get one before they try to sell it.?

Exactly my thoughts: If it's so easy to get a title, then maybe get off your butt and get one before you try to sell it. Otherwise it's worth the value of the parts that I need.

Yes,. The process of researching back fees in CA can be done online for free with the VIN. I would never take someone's word for it. Calling the DMV is the next option; they will do a call-back, which is a huge improvement over the old days of being on hold, listening to smooth jazz for 2 hours. I don't sense this seller is going to bother with any of that 'work'.
