Making a good one out of two good ones.

Was handed for free a 2000 LS650…250 miles clocked…no title and no bill of sale. Long story short I picked up a non running titled 2011 650, thus swap time. Here’s the start of the madness.

That looks like fun, pretty basic machine with no complexity to get in the way. Easy to make looking good with some polish and paint if needed, enjoy!

Aren't we supposed to make one good one out of two bad ones?

                Must be the new math.

in this state, no title, just a parts bike. They both run, now to make it my own so to speak.

Making progress, one step forward and back again. I get to remove the seat, tank and plug again and do a valve adjustment after running it for a while.

Spent yesterday cleaning a new style carb and rebuilding a fuel valve with a bad diaphragm and O ring. Great fun, still not sure wether or not to change the engine out as well.

Well I on the third fuel valve and finally have a winner, the bike now runs on not just prime. Not getting any more leaking past the O ring or diaphragm. Starts right now and idles off choke in short time. Buttoned up and ready for a nice day…no rain dry roads..and a test ride. If all goes well will be tagged by new year.

Looks like it worked out very good Vince, good luck with the test ride. Always thought those old singles would make a great cafe style/retro racer ride. Is there enough good parts left to do that? With your tin banging talents I'm sure you could come up with something in short order.

My thought on those older singles would be to make it into a 40's or 50's style bike with a rigid tail and a springer front end. Add a "Pogo Stick" saddle on it and maybe some leather saddlebags.
