This one just dropped a couple of weeks ago, good to hear this group coming out with some fresh material after a long hiatus! Looks like they're going to do a tour with The Bridge City Sinners opening for them, gonna be a hell of a show.

Here's another goodie found while scroll through the "Neo folk" playlists on YouTube. Tasty stuff, as real as the day is long.

The ladies have certainly been getting their due as of late, these gals do a great job covering an old blues standard with a contemporary twist.

I hadn't paid attention to the fact that these guys put out another album until recently. I can't stop listening to them. Always a fan of the White Stripes, these guys are fantastic together.

              Hi guys

This might not be for everyone here but I have become a little bit obsessed with Lola Young since I heard it playing on an alternative radio station in my wife's car the other day.

She's from the UK and 24 years old. She is diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder
Big talent with a big voice! And writes her own songs. Great lyrics in my opinion and has inspired me to look for more new music.

After graduating from the BRIT School in 2018, she continued performing at local gigs and open mic events, eventually catching the attention of industry figures Nick Shymansky, Amy Winehouse's former manager, and Nick Huggett, who first signed Adele.[9] The two soon became her managers.[10]

The kids at our school rave about her, and I enjoy her sound. I hope the industry doesn't consume her.

Yes, my thoughts too considering her mental health diagnosis.

"Illness music"? Is that a thing now? Just as with "black music" or "Jewish music" or "lesbian music" it all to often fails short when it comes to the "music" part, on it's own nobody would notice.

Most of the musicians and artists I know have a DX of some sort, they don't wear it as a badge of honor.

Wow, that’s your take is it.
You think people shouldn’t talk about their mental health?
You don’t see the merit in someone you people are listening to being open about their struggles? You don’t see how that may help a child or young person?
What a dangerous and outdated way to think.

You just ain't never gonna "get right" as they say down in the hood, are you Trevor? Give this a listen first then follow the second link for the back story on the artist, he didn't need no stinking labels to hit the big time!

Yet the guy you wanted me to check out "His songs cover a wide variety of topics, with mental illness and consumerism being the most prominent themes"
Tell me how that is any different the the artist I mentioned?

Go get your own soul Trevor, this thread is about music and how it enhances our lives. There's plenty of more appropriate places to feed your incessant need to virtue signal and thereby endorse your validity as a human being.

It's not Tuesday but here's a double shot for you anyhow. Let the music speak for itself.

Wtf are you talking about?? I simply posted a video of a young woman I have been listening to and find very interesting. Then you came along and insulted the choice of artist.... How about you move along seeing how you threw the first stone?
