If any of you are liking the pictures and the stories this week, you will probably like the thread :
"Influencing The GrandKids"
This general discussion area is to be used as the non-controversial topics. This forum is open to all. Forum rules apply!

although is "influencing grandkids" in general, rather than "next generation riding", but about same idea, but more for grandkids and not specific to riding.

Maybe some of you might like to add to it.
Roger Burque's picture this week has been there for some time now.

I know this isn't probably proper but I'm going to vote for my own picture solely due to the story even just it tells. The very scared look on her face quickly turned to delight and ultimately into not wanting to get off that day. In some ways, it mimics our life together since she was originally my girlfriend's daughter who wanted to like me but was scared to trust and then ultimately led to asking me to adopt her two years ago. We have gone many a mile since that day we took the picture and I have loved every minute of the time we've spent together over the last several years. I'm looking forward to the future.

Saturday, Vote Tally.

I think most pic were taken just to be documentary, but given the subject, and given the audience (us), I think I can speak for everyone and say we all enjoyed them all. Thanks Jedz.

My tally this morning:
Burque 4, Me Redman 4, Kerrfunk 6, Cowboy 2 .
Anybody is welcome to check-confirm or comment further on my tally.

So, Mr Kerry Kerfunk and his turnbsignal riding daughter have the most votes.

Kerry, Can you tell us if she remembers that first ride....? Oh, And what you have for us next?

Thanks for the votes, y'all. As always, a fun contest, and a lot of stories this time!
I am probably way too excited that I won this week. Not only do I tell my wife about the weekly event, but I often tell my secretary and even the folks that gather for coffee before Sunday School.
Scott (cowboy), no worries about voting for yourself. I probably take voting too seriously, too! I was a little afraid to vote this time because I knew I was in the running to win, but I decided to go with the spirit of the game and vote for the one that I thought captured "passing the torch" well (I voted for Burque73).
My daughter does not recall her first motorcycle ride

Anyhoo. The theme for the first week of December: Here's Your Sign. Your bike with a roadsign. Could be a traffic sign, could even be something like "Welcome to Illinois" or "Welcome to Chicago" or "Welcome to the Grand Teton National Forest".

This pair of roadsigns is on southbound OH775 about fifteen miles from my house. It indicates a curvy road with a junction on the left and then a junction on the right. They forgot to indicate that it's on a hill. I just get such a kick out of these signs.

Good theme this week again. I missed last week. Here's my entry for this week taken on the way to Yosemite N.P. a number of years ago. I have to pick from the archives as riding is definitely done for season.

Seems like this should be another week with lots of photos. Good.
I suppose some folks will have pictures of peculiar signs. And some have nice roadside scene that include a sign. And if not any such, then lot of folks will have the picture of bike by the entrance sign to such-n-so park.

Kerry, I found your signs quite interesting. TO me they say "prepare to be confused next couple intersections and curves".
I was trying to figure out if what can see ahead on the left is the first intersection the signage is trying to describe. SO I think I found that section of road on google maps/ streetscape

although the streetscape image is 2009, apparently before those signs.
But yah, that does look like the CR121.

I have been stopping along the side of the road for pictures of interesting road scene, and include the bike, for years now (as viewers of "went for ride" can bemoan). I have done that so much that I can be riding along on roads around these nearby counties, see a place to pull off for maybe an interesting picture, then realize that I have stopped there multiple times before... scheesch. (Not having as many interesting roads around here.)
THis summer I challenged myself and I made a point to try to include a road sign (M-22, Possum Hollow, whatever), so the picture told more of the story by itself. I found that got me into some trouble since I was stopping at places along side of the road because the road sign was there, not so much because it was an otherwise inviting place. Especially further north where the signs seem to be further off the road and on higher poles (snow plowing and snowbank concerns, I suspect). A few times I got stuck or about lost it in soft shoulder or found a bad slope under the weeds that was taking me into the ditch. And those occasions did not provide any interesting photo anyway.

Okay...... quit yammering and start looking through photostorage .... again.

>>later note: and there are two photos submitted just while I typed this
(you ever notice that people that call it "typing", do it slow...)

Yes, Dave, that's the spot! Southbound as you come to the second junction (171 to the right) if you're going too fast you'll get air cresting the hill.
I keep two on the road at all times.
